The Southern Door FFA became the recipient of a $2,500 grant thanks to the generosity of Door County farmer Nick Vogel. The funding, obtained through the “America’s Farmers Grown Communities” program, is underwritten by the Monsanto fund, the philanthropic arm of the Monsanto Company. Vogel said he is glad the grant will be used to help youth in the community. He said, as a farmer, he knows the importance of agricultural education & the FFA does a great job in promoting it. During national FFA week in February, students collected food donations worth just under $621. Some of the funds from Monsanto will be used to match the value of the food drive. The students will also be completing a plastic bag recycling event later this spring for the Southern Door community.
