With the start of classes Thursday for the 2011/2012 school year at Southern Door, students & staff are also beginning the district’s 50th school year celebration. A board appointed committee was formed several months ago to plan the historic milestone & the official kickoff will be held on Friday, September 9th. At 9:30AM that day, a gathering of students & staff will be held at the Southern Door football field. A short program is planned & a group photo of everyone present will be taken. Every student & staff member will receive a t-shirt to commemorate the event, thanks to the generosity of the Southern Door Community Foundation. The evening of September 9th will be alumni night at the Southern Door football game. All Southern Door alumni will receive a special alumni pin & $2 off their admission to the game. There will be a special halftime program to recognize the alumni, ending with singing of the school song led by the Southern Door High School band. On December 10th, a home for the holidays concert will be presented bringing back many Southern Door alumni to perform. Other events are also being planned.
