Room Tax Helps Local Economy

There’s no doubt that room tax dollars have provided a real shot in the arm for the local economy & the effort to market Door County on a national & international basis. While the tax is applied to lodging facilities throughout the county, it also applies to homes that are rented out to individuals & families. Tourism is big business in Door County, ranked seventh statewide in tourism spending. Last year, the economic impact in the county was $289 million, up 6.6% over 2011.
