Robbery Suspects Make Initial Court Appearances

Two 19-year old Sturgeon Bay men, accused in connection with an armed robbery to a convenience store in Sturgeon Bay August 20th, made initial appearances in Door County circuit court Monday. Court records indicate that Dylan Austad allegedly entered the Citgo gas station off Michigan Street at 2AM, wearing a paintball mask & brandishing a knife. He left with an undisclosed amount of cash. Austad faces charges of armed robbery & reckless endangerment because a knife was used in the commission of a crime. He was ordered back in court for a status hearing on September 18th. Bail was continued at $20,000 cash. During the course of its investigation, the Sturgeon Bay Police Department uncovered evidence related to recent burglaries. Austad is also charged with two counts of burglary in connection with the break-ins in August. Joshua Robel’s preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday morning. His bail is set at $10,000 cash. Besides the robbery charge, Robel is accused of obstructing a police officer. Judge Peter Diltz included no contact requirements for both men as part of their bail provisions.
