Tuesday the wisconsin DNR announced some recent changes at Peninsula State Park, including property upgrades, new facilities and infrastructure, and the anticipated reopening of popular property amenities. Among the property upgrades, visitors will now find new shower restroom facilities in the south Nicolet campground, restroom upgrades in various campgrouinds, a new sanitary dump/fill station, a new restroom facility at the Northern Sky amphitheater, and addition to the Nature Center, the resurfacing of 400 campsites, campsite upgrades with new grills and fire rings, 23 campsites upgraded to electrical service, and new drinking fountains added throughout the campgrounds. Also, the golf course and clubhouse opened on last Saturday. The Eagle Bluff Lighthouse opens on May 15th. The beach camp store will open Memorial Day weekend. Also, the Northern Sky Theater opens for the season on June 14th. Due to unforeseen construction delays, the much anticipated opening of the new Eagle Tower, originally scheduled for last Saturday, has been postponed, but the DNR estimates that new tower reopening will be in the coming weeks. Park visitors are still encouraged to practice social distancing and wear face coverings when a distance of 6 feet cannot be achieved.
