Northern Door Children’s Center Car Raffle

A state agency has thrown a monkey wrench in the Northern Door Children’s Center’s efforts to sell tickets for it’s annual car raffle. The Sister Bay organization has been informed by the Wisconsin Division of Gaming that raffle tickets for a charity raffle must be purchased in person. The announcement marks a significant change for the Children’s Center which has been selling tickets for the fundraiser via phone, internet & through the mail for the past eight years. The organization had hoped to sell 2500 raffle tickets this year, but Executive Director Cindy Trinkner-Peot fears the change will mean much lower numbers. It has been estimated that a fourth of the tickets sold in the past were through the mail, by way of internet flyers or by telephone. Trinkner-Peot says, now, more than ever, the Northern Door Children’s Center will be relying on the local community to make the car raffle a success. About 25$ of the organization’s annual revenue comes from fundraising, & the car raffle is it’s biggest fundraiser of the year. This year a 2012 Fiat 500, provided by benefactor Judith Blazer, will be raffled off with the winner’s name announced on October 3rd. Tickets are selling for $20 each.
