A $3.7 million road construction project on eight miles of Highway 42, from County X at the Door/Kewaunee County line, to the south junction of Highway 42/57, south of Sturgeon Bay, begins Monday. According to the Department of Transportation, Highway 42 will remain open during construction work. The prime contractor is Northeast Asphalt of Greenville, Wisconsin. Work crews will mill off the existing asphalt surface and replace it with a new surface of blacktop during the project which also includes storm sewer repairs, culvert replacements, beamguard upgrades, and pavement marking. Work will be completed under traffic using lane closures with flagging operations. Minor delays may occur during the project, which is expected to be completed in August.
