Nature Conservancy Purchases 362 Acres Near Baileys Harbor

Nearly 362 acres of land, surrounded by the Baileys Harbor Boreal Forest and Wetlands State Natural Area in Door County has been purchased by the Nature Conservancy. When the land is designated as a state natural area, it will almost double the size of this unique and diverse natural area. The Nature Conservancy’s Mike Grimm explains why the property is being conserved…

Grimm says a plan is being worked on that will lead to public use of the land, the posting of boundaries, and the removal of a shed…

Funding for the acquisition was provided by a grant from the US Fish and Wildlife Service through the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, a grant from Wisconsin’s Knowles-Nelson Stewardship program, and donations from Nature Conservancy supporters.
