An electrical problem & a uncooperative computer is being blamed for the closure of the Michigan Street bridge in Sturgeon Bay for much of the morning Wednesday. The bridge tender asked city police to block off approaches to the span shortly after 7:20AM when the gate on the East side of the structure refused to come down. The recently reconditioned bridge was opened to allow the coast guard cutter Mobile Bay to pass by. A crew from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation determined that the source of the problem was electrical. However, reprogramming the computer extended the closure until about 1:15PM.
