This reminder, the Department of Transportation says the Michigan Street Bridge will be shut down to pedestrian & vehicular traffic for a month, beginning Tuesday, & will not be open to traffic until Friday, October 14th. The project is needed to complete painting & inspections of the structure. The nearly 21 million dollar rehabilitation project on the bridge began in July of 2009, & the DOT opened it to traffic in July. During the closure, one span will be left in the open position to provide passage for boat traffic.
