Motorists wanting to cross the Oregon Street Bridge in Sturgeon Bay were stymied on more than one occasion on Tuesday. Problems related to the replacement of a drive unit on the bridge led to the closure of the span for about four hours. the bridge was opened to traffic at about 2PM, but was stuck once again a couple of hours later. The drive unit failed on July 19th & caused the span to be shut down on that occasion for about six hours. A crew from the Department of Transportation ran into some electrical problems during the replacement project Tuesday & thought it had the glitch repaired after changing some parts. The bridge reportedly encountered problems again in the four o’clock hour, but was back open to traffic shortly before 4:30PM. The thirty million dollar bridge has seen it’s share of closures since it opened in September of 2008.
