An emergency call was made for a large manure spill in the Town of Brussels Monday night. At about 6:15PM, the call was made after the spill was noticed on a farm property on the west side of Pit Court, just north of County Road D. Responding were members of the DNR, Door County Soil and Water, and assistance from the Brussels-Union-Gardner Fire Department. Heinz says the total estimate is approximately 50,000 gallons of manure was spilled, and as of Tuesday morning there were still crews working at the site…
Crews were damming Renard Creek at certain locations, attempting to slow the flow towards the bay, and diverting that flow elsewhere while already spilled manure was being pumped into a different manure pit. Heinz tells us what the DNR Has planned moving forward…
