Sturgeon Bay City Council
Alderman John Lodl finished with 70 votes in primary balloting Tuesday, but was defeated in his attempt to be elected to a seat on the Sturgeon Bay city council in the 2nd aldermanic district. District 2 incumbent Ron Vandertie led the way with 147 votes, followed by Cindy Weber who picked up 86 votes & will challenge Vandertie in the April election. Lodl, who will represent the city in the 3rd aldermanic district into April of next year, was placed in the position of finishing out his current term on the city council or running for the district 2 seat when his home was redistricted out of the 3rd aldermanic district. A total of 304 votes were cast during the election Tuesday.
Southern Door School Board
A newcomer, a former school board president & two incumbents will vie for two seats on the Southern Door board of education as a result of primary election voting Tuesday. Polly Alberts led the slate of five candidates in balloting, picking up a total of 413 votes. Chuck Bretl, who was a Southern Door school board member for a dozen years & served as its president, came in second with 320 votes. The two incumbents, Dawn Starr & Lori Sampo finished within 12 votes of each other to round out the list of candidates who will be on the ballot in the spring election. Starr had 273 votes & Sampo 261. Former board member Perry Degrave’s 128 votes were not enough to allow him to continue on to the election in April.
