Lightning Fire

A fire Sunday evening in the Town of Sevastopol has been attributed to a lightning strike. The occupants of the home were taken to Ministry Door County Medical Center for treatment of smoke inhalation & later released. Sturgeon Bay Fire Chief Tim Herlache says most homes have a grounding system that will protect them from lightning, but the fire Sunday is an example of how lightning that strikes away from a structure can still damage it…[audio:|titles=SBFD Chief Tim Herlache]

Herlache estimated that the home sustained several thousand dollars in damage due to the fire that reached the kitchen area, as well as smoke damage.
