Leaf Collection Begins in Sturgeon Bay

The Sturgeon Bay Street Department began the annual fall leaf pickup throughout the city Monday. The program will run until November 22nd, weather permitting. During the leaf collection, street department personnel will make at least one pass through city neighborhoods. Once crews have collected leaves in a given area, they will not return. Residents are asked to rake leaves to the curb, bagged leaves will not be collected. In addition, brush & garden waste will not be picked up by city workers as these materials can damage equipment used for leaf collection. Brush & garden waste may be dropped off at the compost site on Division Road at any time. When raking leaves, please do not drag them into the street. This increases pollution to the storm water & can cause flooding because of clogged storm sewers. It’s also a dangerous attraction to children. If you have any questions about the annual leaf collection in Sturgeon Bay, call the public works department Monday through Friday, between 7AM & 3:30PM, at 746-2912.
