A Brown County man accused of operating a small methamphetamine lab at a Sturgeon Bay motel has worked out a plea deal with the Door County District Attorney’s office. Thirty three year old Benjamin La Londe of Green Bay entered no contest pleas to charges of manufacture and delivery of methamphetamine and possession of materials related to “meth” production in Door County Circuit Court Wednesday. Judge D. Todd Ehlers placed him on four years probation and sentenced him to 120 days in jail. They stayed 80 days of jail time. La Londe can do the remaining 40 days in the Brown or Shawano county jail. The judge also told him to provide 40 hours of community service, make restitution of nearly $4,400, maintain full employment and absolute sobriety, and avoid contact with the Best Western Maritime Inn. La Londe must also seek counseling and may not consume or possession controlled substances without a valid prescription and only then at the dosage and frequency recommended. Charges of possessing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were dismissed.
Lalonde was arrested in Sturgeon Bay on February 6th after employees of the motel found chemicals and equipment in his second floor room.
