Kruse Drops out of Assembly Race

Sturgeon Bay businessman Jon Kruse has announced that he is dropping out of the race for the first district assembly seat currently held by Garey Bies. Kruse, owner of Door County Marine, cited the demands of running his business at the busiest time of the year for prompting his decision. He said he could not in good conscience continue his campaign knowing that his customers are his number one priority. Kruse thanked the many who urged him to run, but said he owed the customers of Door County Marine his undivided attention. The city man has experience in politics, having been chief staff for State Senator Frank Lasee in 2011. He opened Door County Marine in 2013. The list of other candidates running as Republicans include Doctor Paul Feit, Brian Hackbarth, Joel Kitchens, & Terry McNulty. A primary election will be needed in August to trim that field down to one candidate. Joe Majeski is running as a Democrat. State Representative Garey Bies, while retiring from the state assembly, has decided to run for Wisconsin Secretary of State on the Republican ticket.
