Wisconsin Public Service Corporation is narrowing a list of potential sites for a new power generating unit to meet expected needs by 2019. The Kewaunee area near where Dominion had operated the now closed Kewaunee Power Station was considered, but, WPS says obstacles encountered there were just too great. Some of the problems with the site are the distance from a suitable natural gas supply & regulatory issues having to do with a non-generating but still live nuclear site that stores spent fuel. WPS has requested feasibility studies for sites in Green Bay & near Kaukauna.
