An informational meeting about building project plans for the Brussels-Union-Gardner Fire Department will be held on Monday at the Brussels Community Center. The building project calls for the construction of a new South station that would provide needed office space for the fire department, the Door County Sheriff’s & Human Services Departments, along with Door County Emergency Medical Services & first responders. The plan also calls for remodeling the North station to provide needed space, correct code violations & building issues, & create space for emergency medical responders. With county participation in the South station building project, cost sharing is possible. In that regard, county funds would pay for 20% of the project cost, with residents of the Towns of Brussels, Union & Gardner covering the rest. If the county & fire department enter into a 50-year agreement, the Door County ambulance would remain at its Southern Door location for years to come. During the meeting, time will be set aside for questions & answers. The meeting on Monday, at the Brussels Community Center, begins at 7PM.
