A total of 1,413 individuals benefited from services provided by the Neighbor to Neighbor Volunteer Caregivers in 2017. Door County residents saved more than $400,000 in medical expenses by using the organization’s services. Ninety four volunteers donated 2,373 hours to facilitate medical equipment loans, serve as peer companions and respite care providers to homebound aging individuals, staff the office, serve on the board of directors and assist with special events. Neighbor to Neighbor offers a medical equipment loan program at three locations, Sturgeon Bay, Northern Door, and on Washington Island, the peer companion and respite care volunteer programs, and the lemonade club, a monthly support group for cancer patients and survivors.
