An emergency call came in for an ice rescue in the Town of Nasewaupee Sunday evening. At about 6:45PM, the call came in for a UTV 4-wheeler with 5 occupants which partially broke through the ice on the Bay of Green Bay. Nasewaupee Fire & Rescue responded with the Door County Sheriff’s Office and Door County EMS. The US Coast Guard was contacted, but their response was called off once the scene was secured. Nasewaupee Fire Chief Jacob Schartner explains their response…
That response was completed in about 70 minutes, and as Fire Chief Schartner explained, there were no injuries. Even with the continued cold temperatures in the next few days, remember that no ice is 100% safe.
