Hougaard Serving Community in Multiple Ways

By the very nature of their job description, law enforcement officers are involved in public service work, but Sturgeon Bay Sergeant Chad Hougaard has taken it one step further. Hougaard was recently appointed to the Sturgeon Bay Board of Education, filling out the remainder of Doctor Joel Kitchens term. Kitchens resigned after being elected to the state assembly. Hougaard has completed close to 20 years as a police officer, including 11 in Sturgeon Bay. He says being a member of the nine-person school board provides an opportunity to give back to the community…

Hougaard says he had no agendas when he applied for the job, but realizes what kids learn during their school years goes beyond the classroom. He says being educated about the dangers of drugs and the internet will help protect young people in a very dangerous world…

Hougaard says, after he fills out the remainder of the current term, he anticipates running for another term.
