Governor Tony Evers has signed a $3.9 million contract to improve 6.5 miles of Highway 42 from Gibraltar Road, in the Town of Gibraltar, to Country Walk Drive in the Village of Sister Bay. Work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday of next week and finish in late October. The highway will remain open during construction using flagging operations. All construction will stop during the months of July and August for the peak tourism season and the roadway will be open to both lanes of travel. The project will mill off existing asphalt surface and install a new surface. The project also includes storm sewer repairs, culvert replacements, beam guard replacement, and pavement marking. Northeast Asphalt of Greenville, Wisconsin is the prime contractor.
