High Winds & Heavy Rains Cause Northern Door Power Outages

The combination of high winds and heavy rain knocked out electrical power for dozens of customers of Wisconsin Public Service Corporation late Wednesday and early Thursday in northern Door County. The hardest hit areas were near Baileys Harbor, Egg Harbor and Sturgeon Bay where close to 450 WPS customers had their electrical service disrupted. However, by the noon hour Thursday, the vast majority were back online. The Door County Sheriff’s Department also received multiple reports of trees and wires down as a result of the storm and its gusty winds.
