Harbor Assistance Grants Will Fund Project at Bay Shipbuilding

Governor Scott Walker has approved grants totaling $6.5 million for four harbor maintenance & improvement projects in Wisconsin, including one in Door County. Some of the harbor assistance program funds will be used to construct a new dock wall at Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay. The project, at just over $2.3 million, will provide a dockage area for large vessels for maintenance & construction work. Created in 1979, Wisconsin’s harbor assistance programs helps harbor communities maintain & improve waterborne commerce. The rest of the grant funding will pay for two projects in Two Rivers & another in Superior.
