Groundbreaking for Skatepark Monday

A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Sturgeon Bay skatepark has been scheduled for Monday at 4PM at the skatepark site, 16 West Spruce Street, on the city’s west side. The Sturgeon Bay Skatepark Initiative announced that it had met its fundraising goal earlier this spring by raising $400,000 for the site which will be owned & operated as a City of Sturgeon Bay public park. The ten thousand square foot facility was designed by Grindline Designs of Seattle, Washington & will be built by Dreamland Skateparks of Lincoln City, Oregon. It will be the third park Dreamland has built in Wisconsin. Construction is expected to be completed in early September. The date for a grand opening event will be announced later this summer as work proceeds.
