Green Bay Man Dies In Kewaunee Accident

Sunday morning at 8:38 Kewaunee County Dispatch received a call stating a vehicle had went into the Kewaunee Harbor.  A Kewaunee Police officer arrived on scene to find a local camper had pulled a five year-old boy from the water.  The boy was conscious and alert when police arrived.  The boy was transported to a Green Bay hospital and later released to family membe

Inital rescue efforts by Kewaunee Fire, Algoma fire and a local diver were unsuccessful.  The scene changed from rescue to recovery after too much time had lapsed.  Numerous agencies including: Kewaunee Rescue and Fire along with Algoma Rescue and Fire, First Responders, Kewaunee County Sheriff Department, DNR, Coast Guard, Brown County Dive team, Eagle III, and the Red Cross were called to the scene along with support from many local citizens.

The van was driven by a 40 year-old male who is the father of the 5 year-old boy.  The vehicle lost control in the 200 block of Hathaway drive and went into the water.  Names will be released at a later date.

*UPDATE* At approximately 7pm the Coast Guard, DNR, Green Bay rescue divers along with Sturgeon Bay/Door County Dive Team and their sonar equipment located the body of a 40 year-old Green Bay man.  The victim was removed from the harbor at approximately 7:30pm.  The victim has been identified as Shane Dillenburg of Green Bay.
