A community workshop on great lakes water levels has been scheduled for Thursday, August 8th, at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay. Bill Schuster, Director of the Door County Soil & Water Conservation Department & a member of the Wisconsin Coastal Management Council, credits the Door/Kewaunee legislative days event in Madison in May for bringing about the upcoming workshop. Schuster says the August 8th community workshop provides an opportunity for local residents to comment on the important issue of low lake levels.
In addition to presentations given & the information shared at the workshop, participants will be asked to provide recommendations on how legislators & state government programs can assist citizens in what could be an extended period pf lower than average lake levels. The great lakes water levels community workshop, has been scheduled at the request of the Wisconsin Coastal Management Council & the Wisconsin Coastal Management Program in partnership with the UW Sea Grant Institute, the Departments of Natural Resources & transportation, & the Wisconsin Waterways Commission. It will be held on August 8th, from 6 to 8:30PM, in the Collins Learning Center at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay.
