The impasse over bids for dismantling, salvaging and storing the old grain elevator on Sturgeon Bay’s west side waterfront continued Friday when, once again, three council-members opposed to the idea failed to show up for a special meeting. It marked the third consecutive meeting that alder-persons Kelly Catarozoli, Barb Allman and Laurel Hauser ensured that there wouldn’t be a quorum and the meeting had to be called off. Mayor Thad Birmingham said the matter would be taken up again at the council’s regular meeting on Tuesday. That session also includes a closed door meeting to discuss a letter from the Wisconsin Historical Society related to the old grain elevator. The meeting Tuesday begins at noon.
