Getting to Know the New Alice in Dairyland

The 77th Alice in Dairyland was crowned in Sturgeon Bay this last weekend at Stone Harbor Resort, and we have more information on the new Alice, Halei Heinzel from Oconomowoc. As part of the competition, all six candidates were interviewed by WDOR’s Chad Michaels, and Halei explained how she became interested in Wisconsin agriculture despite not growing up on a farm…

Her appreciation for Wisconsin agriculture started with her love of animals. Halei explains how this drew her to her high school FFA chapter and then to the Farm & Industry Short Course through the UW-Madison…

Eventually, she was working for the State Fair with the Dairy Promotion Board when she realized how much she enjoys discussing agriculture with the public…

Halei Heinzel graduates from UW-Madison this weekend with a bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences Communication, and she’ll be preparing to become the 77th Alice starting July 8th.
