More than twenty downtown businesses in Sturgeon Bay will extend their hours today as the United Way of Door County continues its 2012 first Fridays in the city. The first Friday of each month will offer area residents the opportunity to enjoy downtown Sturgeon Bay with many shops remaining open until 8PM. The goal of these monthly events is to increase business traffic in downtown Sturgeon Bay & awareness of local non-profit organizations. The Community Garden, Rotary Interact & WEP, Incorporated will be highlighted this month. Glas will have an open mic, starting at 7PM, & Untitled Rare & Used Books will have a poetry reading at 5PM. Residents are invited to read from their own works or those they love during the poetry reading. Representatives from all three featured non-profits will be at a few of the participating businesses to answer questions about the services they provide.
