The Door County Sheriff’s Department will be offering a firearms safety course that meets the training requirements for state statutes related to obtaining a license to carry a concealed weapon. The course will be presented from 6 – 7pm on Thursday, April 19th at the Door County Justice Center in Sturgeon Bay. The course is not intended to provide live fire training and participants will not be taught how to shoot a firearm. The class will feature an exam and practical exercise that must be completed prior to receiving a certificate.
Course objectives include…
*Following the Department of Justice process of obtaining, maintaining and renewing a permit for carrying a concealed weapon
*Accepting responsibility for a firearm in the home and in public
*Analyzing considerations regarding concealed carry
*Discussing the legal implications of carrying a concealed weapon
The cost of the course is $25 with all course materials included in the fee. The course is only open to Door County residents and property owners.
