Fire & Police Commission Looks for New Assistant Fire Chief

The Sturgeon Bay fire & police commission will meet tonight(2/13) to begin the process of recruiting a new assistant chief for the fire department. The discussion in the community room will focus on the scheduling process, interviews & recruiting for the position. Current chief Tim Herlache was assistant chief for the late Terry MacDonald during his tenure. Prior to that, the department’s captain essentially filled the role. However, during Herlache’s time as fire chief, there has been no assistant. The five person commission is also expected to receive updates on the fire & police departments & consider its rules & regulations before getting into the discussion on the assistant chief’s position. In closed session, the committee will look at eligibility lists & return to open session to take action on the firefighter eligibility list.
