The investigation is continuing into a fire Sunday afternoon that destroyed a truck and damaged a home in the Town of Sturgeon Bay. Three units and 6 Sturgeon Bay firefighters were paged out at 3:07pm and sent to the Kevin Gilbert home at 3324 Mathey Rd. after a passerby reported a truck on fire. The first units on the scene found the 1995 International truck fully engulfed in flames and the nearby home’s siding and soffits burning. The fire crews only needed 250 gallons of water to extinguish the blaze.
Fire Chief Tim Herlache called the damage to the home minimal, although he noted that some siding would have to be replaced. The truck, which had been parked behind the home’s garage for about a month prior to the fire, was listed as a total loss. Sturgeon Bay firefighters returned to the station at 3:50pm Sunday.
