Fire & Ice Weekend in Sturgeon Bay

Destination Sturgeon Bay is reminding everyone of this weekend’s Fire & Ice Festival, which begins Friday evening at Crossroads at Big Creek. From 5:30 to 7 PM, there will be a free luminary-lit hike at the nature preserve which will include hot chocolate and bonfires. Then Saturday morning begins the ice carving around walkable Sturgeon Bay at 9 AM. Executive Director Cameryn Ehlers-Kwaterski explains how our current warm weather will slightly affect this annual winter tradition…

Bay Shore Outfitters will have hot chocolate and marshmallow roasting out on their patio. The Door County Trolley will be giving free rides to the different ice carving sites from 11 AM to 3 PM. Ehlers-Kwaterski details the wide array of ice carvers lined up and their different methods…

The Popelka Trenchard Glass Studio will have free glass-blowing demonstrations from 1 to 3 PM, and Third Avenue Playworks will have another indoor winter market from 10 AM to 2 PM.
Saturday evening will be the Fire & Ice Dinner and Auction at Stone Harbor Resort, and the Fire Over the Water community fireworks show will begin at 9 PM as fireworks will be launched over the downtown area from the old train spur. Fire & Ice brochures with all event times and ice carving locations are now available at the Destination Sturgeon Bay office on 3rd Avenue.
