Fincantieri Recognized by Disabled American Veterans

Wisconsin’s chapter of Disabled American Veterans has recognized Finacntieri Marine Group as their 2020 Large Employer of the Year. Chapter Employment Committee Chairman Gary Meyer presented the award to Fincantieri officials on June 11th at their annual convention. Fincantieri operates 3 shipyards in Wisconsin, obviously Bay Shipbuilding here in Sturgeon Bay, Fincantieri Marinette Marine across the bay of Green Bay, and Fincantieri Ace Marine in the city of Green Bay. The company employs nearly 250 veterans and is in the midst of additional hiring as they begin fabrication on Constellation-class frigates for the US Navy later this year. Finacantieri Marine Group General Manager Marco Galbiati says they are on contract with the Navy to design and build the first-in-class USS Constellation as well as the 2nd ship. He also stresses that the ships coming out of Bay Shipbuilding are predominantly commercial ships with critical missions as well. The shipping of supplies and raw materials throughout the Great Lakes is very understated and extremely important. Galbiati comments, “We take great pride in supporting our country and its military by making tremendous vessels for the Navy and Coast Guard, but also by strengthening our commitment to hiring veterans.”
