The City of Sturgeon Bay announced Monday that an error was discovered in the nomination papers for mayoral candidate Andrea Frank. City Clerk Stephanie Reinhart reported that after a review of Frank’s nomination papers, it was revealed that at least 3 of the 51 signatures included were from persons not residing in the City of Sturgeon Bay. Each person circulating nomination papers must certify that each signature is from a qualified elector residing in the city limits. In this case, candidate Frank signed the certificate of circulator that states “I know that the signers are electors of the jurisdiction or district the candidate seeks to represent.” Since her paperwork did not have enough valid signatures, Frank’s name will not appear on the ballot for the April 1st election. All other candidates who filed nomination papers will be on the ballot. Electors may still vote for Frank, however, but those votes will have to be on a write-in basis.
