Just before 8:00 pm Saturday evening, an emergency call was made concerning a man in distress in the southwest corner of Clark Lake, near the dam and swimming area. The response included the fire departments of Sturgeon Bay and Jacksonport, the Door County Emergency Services Department, the Door County Sheriff’s Department, the Wisconsin DNR, The Sturgeon Bay Police Department, and the Door County Dive Team. Shortly after 8:30 pm an unresponsive 24 year-old Madison man, now identified as “Yeltsin C. Jean-Pierre” was recovered from the water and transported to the Door County Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. There was an autopsy performed Sunday by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s office. Those results are not known at this time and the final report will not be available for at least 6 weeks. However, foul play is not suspected and it appears to be an accidental drowning. No further information is currently available as the incident remains under investigation.
