DOT to Discuss Highway Improvements Near Baileys Harbor

Local officials have been invited to a meeting with representatives from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation next Thursday at the Baileys Harbor Town Office. The 5:30PM meeting is intended to generate discussion on proposed improvements for Highway 57 from the south junction of County Q to Highway 42. The DOT expects to do the work in the fall of 2016. Besides general information on the project, the DOT hopes to gather information on any archaeological, historical & environmental issues that may apply. The proposed work includes milling & resurfacing of the existing roadway, replacing the existing structure at Mudd Creek, located between Cedar & Meadow roads, & replacing culvert pipes. Other maintenance improvements such as spot grading to improve drainage & providing space for adequate snow storage are also planned. Highway 57 will be closed with a posted detour throughout the majority of the project, but access will be maintained throughout the majority of the construction period.
