DOT Plans for Roundabouts by 2016 in Sturgeon Bay

People who got used to the temporary stop lights at the intersection of Egg Harbor Road & Highway 42/57 during the time the Bayview Bridge was being renovated were dismayed when the lights were removed. Many called the department of transportation in Green Bay asking that the lights be made permanent at the busy intersection. The answer provided by the DOT may have made some of the callers doubly dismayed. The state agency says the idea of stop lights at the intersection is not going to happen. In fact, in 2016, a roundabout is expected to be installed at that location & at Michigan Street & the highway. The state agency says it doesn’t make sense to spend money on stop lights when planning is already actively going on to install the roundabouts. The DOT also says the City of Sturgeon Bay & Door County, some years ago, signed on to a plan calling for the roundabouts & they’re coming in 2016.
