The actions of two Door County conservation wardens were recognized in a special ceremony during the meeting of the Door County Board Tuesday. Certificates provided by State Senator Frank Lasee & State Representative Garey Bies were presented to Door County DNR wardens Patrick “Mike” Neal & Chris Kratcha. Neal was recognized for his efforts to provide emergency measures to help two men who were overcome by carbon monoxide while ice fishing in January. With the help of a fishing guide, warden Neal saw to it that the unconscious men were treated before they were placed in his truck & transported to shore. The ice fishermen were taken by ambulance to area medical facilities where they were checked out & later released. Warden Kratcha was honored for providing CPR for a man who collapsed after diving in the waters of the Bay of Green Bay in August of 2010. Kratcha has been a conservation warden since the year 2000, Neal since 1994.
