The Door County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a eight & a half month old infant Wednesday afternoon. According to Sheriff Terry Vogel, his department & Door County Emergency Services were contacted shortly after 5PM about a pulseless, non-breathing female child at a home in the town of Brussels. The child was transported to Ministry Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay where the child was pronounced dead. The child’s 33 year old mother was later arrested & taken to the Door County Jail where she remains while District Attorney Ray Pelrine reviews the case & determines appropriate charges. In the meantime, investigators are gathering additional evidence. Sheriff Vogel says more information could be released at a later date or time.
