The 2013 Door County Relay for Life is set for parts of Friday & Saturday at John Miles County Park in Sturgeon Bay. The annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society is more than teams & individuals walking around a designated course, the event features a variety of activities for participants & visitors. The opening ceremony & survivors lap begins at 6PM. There will be a performance by “The New Day Singers” & remarks from Susan Johnson, Chaplain at Ministry Door County Medical Center. A silent auction & media sale will be held from 6:30 to 8:30PM, “The Modern Day Drifters” perform from 6:30 to 9:30PM, the duct tape & newspaper gown fashion show contest is at 7:30PM, there’s a pie eating contest at 8:30, &, the luminaria ceremony at 9:30PM. Annika Johnson of the Go Bo foundation is the guest speaker. On Saturday, there’s a pancake breakfast from 5 to 8:30AM & the closing ceremony at 8:30.
