At one time, 1,200 customers of Wisconsin Public Service, mostly in northern Door County, were without electrical service Wednesday. But, by the noon hour, that number had dropped to about 200 as power was being restored. The heavy, wet snow was blamed for the series of outages in places like Baileys Harbor, Sister Bay & Fish Creek. Luckily, the relatively warm temperatures kept things from icing up, which could have led to many more outages. Sturgeon Bay Utilities technically had two customers who lost power in its coverage area. However, the electrical disruption was caused by a vehicle that took out a power pole in a traffic accident. A utilities spokesman said power was restored quickly.
