The Ace Hardware Corporation recently named Door County Ace Hardware as the “Coolest Hardware Store East of the Mississippi.” Out of the 5,000+ Ace Hardware stores across the country, only two stores are chosen each year for this recognition, one east and one west of the Mississippi. Third-generation owner Amy(Austad) Labott moved the store from it’s original location on 3rd Avenue, to it’s current home on Egg Harbor Road in September of 2022. Just over one year later, she learned of her store winning this prestigious Ace Hardware award. This news came at just about the same time that she purchased Jungwirth Ace Hardware in Sister Bay, which will now be renamed Ace Hardware Sister Bay.
