In regards to Tuesday morning’s fire call in the Town of Clay Banks, both the property owner and Southern Door Fire Chief Rich Olson had trouble calling
911 during the incident. Incidentally, both use the Cellcom phone service, and Cellcom has had varying outage issues the last 2 weeks. Area 911 calls are received by the Door County Communications Center, and we spoke with Director Brenda Bley about the inability to make those calls. She says they received many 911 calls over the holiday weekend, and their equipment is functioning properly…
In a statement released Tuesday afternoon, Cellcom says that many of their customers are now seeing their service come back online, and that inbound and outbound calls are now functioning, but there may still be occasional issues as their systems stabilize.
