Door County Census Response

The 2020 Census is currently in the phase where census takers are visiting the households of those who have not yet responded to the mail-in or online census form. Sam Fettig is a US Census Partnership Coordinator for this region of the country. He says Wisconsin’s statewide response rate is currently 70.7%, which ranks in the higher range….

Now that the census workers are in the 2nd phase of going door-to-door, Fettig says you can still respond by phone, online, or by mailing in your form, and that would safely eliminate the need for a worker to visit your home. That deadline, however, is coming soon…..

The current response rate for Door County specifically is 47.7% which is much lower than the state average. It is speculated this could be because of the high number of vacation homes in the area and confusion with proper response procedure. Fettig says a response from all homes will save time, energy, and taxpayer money…..

He also says they are still taking applicants for census taker positions. You can earn some extra income and the hours are flexible. If interested you can apply online at 2020census.gov/jobs.
