The result was the same, but the numbers changed following a recount of the votes cast in the spring election for the third supervisory district of the Door County board. Incumbent Patrick Olson was defeated by Roy Engelbert by a two vote margin in balloting Tuesday, April 3rd. The final tally then was Engelbert 198 votes, Olson 196. The recount Thursday came up with a three vote margin of victory for Engelbert who finished with 196 votes to Olson’s 193. During the recount, it was determined that several absentee ballots from the Village of Forestville had not been properly witnessed. A like amount were thrown out at random, leading to the final tally. Olson has five days to decide if he wants to take the matter through the court system. However, there are indications that he will accept the final outcome & surrender his supervisory seat.
