Difference Between Local & Through Traffic for Egg Harbor Road Work

The Egg Harbor Welcome Center would like to respond to some confusion regarding travel within the work zones of road construction along Highway 42, both within the village and in the Town of Egg Harbor. For the stretch from the highway split in Sevastopol north to the north end of the Village of Egg Harbor, Highway 42 is closed to through traffic, but it remains accessible to local traffic. You are considered local traffic if you live, work, or have another type of stop within the road closure area that is only accessible from Highway 42. Even then, you are advised to use any alternate route to limit your travel within the work zone. If you are traveling to or from any point that is not within the construction zone, then you are considered through traffic, and you must utilize the detour. That detour uses State Highway 57, County Road V, County Road A, and County Road EE.
They want to remind everyone that Egg Harbor & Carlsville businesses are indeed open and they need your support. If you are visiting any of these businesses you are then considered local traffic.
The detours will be temporarily removed for Memorial Day weekend and the following weekend in June. The roadwork project is then scheduled to be done by June 28th.
