Another candidate has announced her decision to seek the position of Door County Clerk of Circuit Court as a Republican. She is 46-year old Connie Defere of Sturgeon Bay. The former Connie Burke was raised in Door County, attended Saints Peter & Paul Catholic School & Sevastopol High School in Institute. She graduated with the Sevastopol class of 1986. Defere attended college & received an associate’s degree in interior design. She has continued her education by taking accounting, business & computer courses. For the past ten years she has worked for the Door County Sheriff’s Department managing the office & various accounts in the jail. She is the mother of two daughters, enjoys sporting events, bowling, bible study & helping her parents at the family farm. Long time Door County Clerk of Court Nancy Robillard has announced her decision to retire at the end of her current term. Deputy Clerk Laurie Schlaefer earlier announced that she will run as a Republican, meaning a primary election will be needed in August.
